UEM Defined
In plain terms, UEM means managing any device with a chip in it across its entire lifecycle: scanners, tablets, PCs, POS terminals, etc. If it connects, configures or collects data, UEM can manage it.
For years, this space was known as MDM (Mobile Device Management). But the name needed to keep up with the technology. Today it's not just about phones and tablets. It's about every endpoint in the enterprise, from POS systems in a retail setting to rugged scanners in a warehouse.
"When you talk about UEM, you're really talking about the brain of the operation," said TRG Vice President of Technology Dave Foyer. "It's what keeps the entire fleet online, visible, secure and functioning."
