The trucking company has recognized that functional and up-to-date technology, accompanied by forward-thinking leadership, are cornerstones of its success. So, when mobile devices come to the end of their life, the company is not shy about completely overhauling its fleet. In fact, each year, the company invests anywhere from $1-8 million in equipment upgrades.
Historically, the trucking company worked directly with the equipment OEMs. But when the company started to experience declines in service levels and performance, they began searching for a managed services provider that could deliver at the level needed to achieve their goals.
THE SOLUTION
The trucking company reached out to TRG in hopes of finding a partner to propel its business past the competition. The company found that in us as we began helping them with their fleet management initiatives. Trucks are an enormous, but necessary, capital expense that must be well maintained to maximize useful life and minimize capital deployed.
We first assisted the company in improving systems to track the mileage logged by the company’s trucks each day. This ensured each vehicle was driven uniformly, minimizing wear and tear and extending the life of the overall fleet.
Next, each driver was equipped with a handheld device connecting directly to the company’s driver delivery system. This web-based platform provides real-time data and tracking tools to identify problems early, so they can be avoided or mitigated as soon as possible. In total, we procured and rolled out approximately 750 and counting devices to support this program. We provided a comprehensive, single-source deployment solution - staging, kitting and configuring the equipment from our state-of-the-art facilities in Westlake, Ohio to ensure the rollout was performed quickly, efficiently and cost-effectively .
